A manicure and pedicure course is ideal for learning the necessary skills to become a manicurist. You’ll learn how to cut, file, shape, buff, and polish nails and cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize skin. In addition to learning these skills in a classroom environment, you must practice on yourself, family members, or friends before taking the course so that when you start working with clients, you’ll feel more confident doing all these tasks.
The Right Supplies
This course will require you to purchase some items before beginning. You’ll want to get the right supplies and set up your workspace before starting the course.
Required items for manicure and pedicure training include:
• A pair of nail clippers
• Clippers for trimming nails
• Nail scissors
• Tweezers
Purchasing supplies ahead of time saves money and frustration later.
Practice
You can practice on yourself or a friend, but taking notes as you go along is critical. This way, you’ll remember what steps went into each service and how long they took, so it will make sense when you’re doing the manicure or pedicure on someone else.
Various Client Types
To be prepared for anything, you must practice with different clients to work with nails of various shapes and sizes and the skin that may cover the ends of those nails.
You should also practice using various products. Sometimes spending more on products isn’t better. Take time to find what works for you.
